Quantification – giving a numerical value to a measurement; counting. In analytical chemistry, quantification often describes counting the amount of element of interest that is present in a solution.
- Alternatively, qualitative analysis would be used to identify whether an analyte is present, without determining a specific concentration. This is common when labs are testing unknown samples and have no expected analyte information.
