ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy)

ICP-OES – (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy) Analytical technique used to identify and quantify element concentration(s) in a solution.

  • Argon gas is used to turn liquid sample into fine mist, this mist is introduced to the plasma flame which provides energy to atoms in the solution causing them to emit light at a particular wavelength. The instrument measures the amount of light emitted at a particular wavelength and compares that result to the recorded light emitted from a standard to calculate the concentration of elements associated with each wavelength measured.
