Chemical Stability and Compatibility - Mixing chlorate and perchlorate
I am a researcher looking to make a custom standard. I am looking for an appropriate internal standard for quantifying chlorate samples. I currently have access to a chlorate standard (ICCLO31, 1000 ppm) and a perchlorate standard (ICCLO41, 1000 ppm). Both solutions are made in water. Can I mix these two ions into one standard solution for a calibration curve?

We have created standards containing both of these analytes mixed together in water, and have not observed any issues with incompatibility or long term stability. Specifically, we have observed more than 2 years of chemical stability for both chlorate and perchlorate when mixed with other anions in a water matrix (all concentrations at 100 ug/mL) for a product manufactured using the same formulations of the ICCLO31 and ICCLO41 standards you reference. Therefore, we would anticipate no compatibility or stability issues for creating a mixed ClO3- and ClO4- standard in water. |
