Chemical Stability and Compatibility - Stability of FeCl3 (iron chloride) solution

How long can I expect an aqueous Iron(III)chloride solution to last? I keep it sealed and stored in the refrigerator. Thanks!

We expect an aqueous solution of iron(III) chloride to be stable for several years with the storage conditions described.  The only limitations would be chemical solubility in reduced temperatures, but warming the solution back to room temperature and shaking to homogenize the solution should be sufficient for repeated use.  Refrigeration will help prevent transpiration of the solution.  If biological growth occurs, stability of a new solution could be increased by adding HCl to acidify the solution to inhibit growth if your intended use allows for it.
