Measurement and Results - AA standards compared to ICP standards

AAS Standards are much cheaper than ICP standards (same element, concentration and bottle size). What is the difference between the two standards? Is it the purity of the standard or just the certification (trace elements on the CoA)?

The primary difference between atomic absorption (AA) and ICP standards is the certification; AA standards are always reported with made-to (nominal) concentrations of 1000 ug/mL, and the uncertainties are always fixed at 1% (+/- 10 ug/mL). No homogeneity/stability assessments or expanded uncertainties are provided for AA products, and therefore they are not compliant with ISO Guide 34. The purity of AA products is very similar to ICP standards, but AA products are packaged in bottles that do not receive the extensive cleaning process that ICP product bottles are subjected to, so it is possible that impurity levels in the AA products may be higher than corresponding ICP products.
