Calculating concentrations from chemical formulas
Hi, How can I calculate the Chloride (Cl-) concentration in a 10% Sodium Hypochlorite solution. Assuming there is no other impurities in it, only NaOCl 10%. Thanks.

Use of 6-lithium as internal standard
I am writing in regard to your stock product VAR-IS-1 (ICP internal standard, six elements), which includes 6Li: the question is the potential application of such a solution that includes the 6Li isotope. My understanding for natural occurring lithium is that is comprised of lithium 6 and lithium 7 with relative atomic mass in the range of ~6.9, with 92% of it being lithium 7. However, i am not sure how it is used in the analytic chemistry. and hope to understand why 6Li is especially present in this solution.

TCLP extract recovery issues
Hello,I was at the conference this October and I asked a question about low Pb, Ba, Cd, Cr recoveries in TCLP extraction fluid. The panel suggested it could be an interference from the very hygroscopic NaOH used in the sample prep. We purchased new ACS grade NaOH and have not seen a large improvement. We see improvements with sample dilutions greater than a 5x. However that means we will have to raise our reporting limit. We spiked a 1ppm standard with 1,000ug/mL of Na and got almost exactly the same low recoveries we get in the TCLP matrix. Also, when we analyze the sample sample spikes for Pb on a flame aa we get almost 100% recoveries. Obviously the Na is interfering, but I am not sure how to fix it. Is this a physical interference (high TDS), or a spectral interference?Thank you!

Isotopic ratios in ICP standards
I placed an order for an ICP standard, and wondered if the isotopic ratios are provided with the standard when it is delivered or do I need to ask you specifically for it?

Wavelength, tuning, and calibration standards for ICP-OES
I was looking at your catalog for standards for ICP-OES and I will like to know what is the difference between: Wavelength Calibration Standard (IV-STOCK-5), ICP Calibration Standard (IV-STOCK-4) and Tuning Solution (IV-STOCK-24). I know they are different concentrations and elements but I will like to know if it is possible to use just one of them for all 3 things, wavelength, tuning and calibration. We have a Thermo ICP and I noticed that the vendor used the "tuning" solution as the "calibration standard" as well. Thanks!

Analyzing plant samples by ICP-OES or ICP-MS
I would like to ask about the analysis of a plant sample treated with cerium sulfate and lanthanum oxide. First, is the correct instrument ICP-OES or ICP-MS? Which is the most convenient? Secondly, what weight of sample would you recommend? Could I use 0.5 g in 10 ml HNO3, dilute to 50 ml by deionized water and then measure by ICP? Thirdly, what about the purity of the acid used? Analytical/reagent grade or would higher purity acids be necessary? Lastly, how could I calculate the final concentration of the metal in the plant sample? Thanks!

Trace metal free synthetic seawater
We have a client who requires a synthetic seawater blank, basically a blank water sample with sodium, magnesium, calcium salts at typical seawater concentrations but without trace metals. Is this something you’d be able to provide?

Sulfur (S) analysis in oil using AA (atomic absorbtion)
We are considering to use our ICE 3000 Series Atomic Absorption Spectrometer to analyze the trace amount of sulfur in an oil/hydraulic fluid. I am sending this email to request the information about the standard/specification for sulfur analysis using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer. Your advice will be very much appreciated.

Creation of w/v standards from milliequivalent solutions
Hello, I would like to create a solution with a lithium concentration of 0.3mg/Liter using lithium citrate (8mEq/5ml). How many ml of Lithium Citrate will I need for 1 Liter? I imagine it's a fraction but I'd appreciate seeing the math.
