General Spectroscopy - Using ICP standards for ion chromatogrpahy (IC)
Can ICP-MS grade metal standards be used for Ion Chromatography (IC)?
Would there be any drawback?
We have both ICP-MS and IC in our laboratory but a limited budget.
Is it a good choice to use ICP-MS grade standards for both instruments?

Metal standards designed for ICP methods and preserved in dilute acid matrices can be used in some IC applications. Examples of some of our products that can serve both purposes include our 1000 ppm Ca, Mg, Na, and K products, as the ICP versions (e.g., CGCA1 or 1000 ppm Ca) are equivalent to the IC version (e.g., ICCA1). The critical consideration is the matrix of the standard and the column and eluent used for the IC application; if they are compatible then it’s possible the ICP standard would be suitable for IC methods. |
