Chemical Stability and Compatibility - Using CCS-2 to stabilize mercury (Hg)

I’ve read about using Au to stabilize Hg for ICP-MS analysis and would like to try this out. I have a standard of yours, the stock CCS-2 mix. Would the gold in that work, i.e. is it in the right “form” to stabilize Hg?

Yes, the Au in the CCS-2 standard should work fine for stabilizing Hg in HNO3 matrices when plastic containers are used for preparation and storage of standards. Our experience has been that the Au/Hg ratio should be kept relatively high, and would recommend at least 1 ppm of Au to stabilize Hg concentrations of ~100 ppb or lower.
