Measurement and Results - Total silica measurement using colorimetric method
Our laboratory is in need of custom made Total Silica (dissolved + colloidal silica) standard that is to be used in a colorimetric method to analyze dissolved and colloidal silica in ultrapure and reclaim water. Can you provide such a a standard?

Assuming that the colorimetric method is based upon molybdate reactivity, we should be able to provide a custom silica standard certified for dissolved silica, and we would recommend a dilute NaOH matrix for this application. A certification for colloidal silica is not as straightforward, as the term colloidal can be defined in different ways. It would be possible to certify a dissolved silica concentration capable of passing a prescribed filter size (e.g., 0.2 µm), but stating if some fraction of the silica was ‘colloidal’ would be problematic. |
