Chemical Stability and Compatibility - Stability studies for different types of plastic

Your stability studies seem to mention LDPE only with regard to container materials. This is about the only plastic we do not have in the lab. Could you confirm if the same stability data could be applied to any of the following: HDPE, PMP, PFA, FEP, and PP?

We have not observed any noticeable differences with respect to stability for different types of plastic; however, we do not have extensive datasets that fully explore possible stability scenarios for all available plastic types. We do know that HDPE and PP will have stability characteristics similar to that of LDPE. With respect to different container materials, only a few elements such as Hg and Au suffer noticeable stability issues as a result of the container type, and we would expect our observations for LDPE to be applicable to the plastic formulations you mention. Much more frequently observed are contamination issues due to low concentrations prepared or stored in ‘dirty plastics’, and all the plastic formulations mentioned benefit from acid leach cleaning procedures (seehttp://inorganicventures.com/container-material-properties for more information).
