Measurement and Results - Rare earth element ICP interferences

Rare earth element (REE) interferences for ICP-AES and ICP-MS is becoming a hot topic for discussion these days. Looking at the interactive periodic table I can find info for ICP-MS. Do you have any information on possible REE interferences for ICP-AES?

The ICP-OES (AES) emission spectra generated by rare earths (RE) can be quite significant. The Interactive Periodic Table (https://www.inorganicventures.com/periodic-table) does mention these interferences for alkali elements like Na and K, particularly as 2nd order radiation on some optical designs (see footnotes to the spectroscopic information tables). We examine complete OES spectra for all rare earths as part of our trace metal impurity analytical program, and if there are specific elements that are of concern with respect to these rare earth interferences, we could provide additional information for those elements.
